For reasons I will delve deeper in to in a separate post, my mornings have been looking more like this than this.
The fact that I’ve posted two smoothie recipes back-to-back should be proof positive that I’m feeling rather uninspired at the moment. We’ll need to get me back up and running as soon as feasible.
So needless to say, I have had a need for green. It’s cleansing, it’s healthful and it makes me feel like I am starting the day off properly even when properly doesn’t include a speedy run.
I whipped up this smoothie this morning and it is sure to be repeated.
Spinach Pear Sunflower Smoothie
Ingredients
1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
1 scoop vanilla protein powder (I use Spiru-tein)
1 heaping teaspoon Trader Joe’s Sunflower Seed Butter
1 dash cinnamon
2 cups baby spinach
1/2 peeled and frozen banana
1/2 d’anjou pear (leave the peel for extra fiber)
Method
Blend. It takes about four minutes to come together in my blender.
The pear makes it sweet and seasonal.
The banana makes it creamy, like a milkshake.
The protein powder provides a much needed morning dose.
The sunflower seed butter adds a nutty depth that makes this smoothie instantly satisfying and crave-worthy.
Give it a try!
Hang in there! As my mom always tells me, “This too shall pass.” You’ll feel back to normal and more like yourself soon! It still sounds like an inspired smoothie though; I especially like the spinach and pear combination!
